Optometry Services in Chicago

The Angel Harvey Family Health Center of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago has made vision health a priority. Our optometry program is designed to improve children’s eye health by:

  • Increasing access to vital eye exams and eyeglasses
  • Improving the optometry services available in the community for children with vision impairments and those on the autism spectrum
  • Educating parents on the importance of having regular eye exams

Our optometry services in Chicago, IL, include regular eye exams and prescriptions for free or low-cost glasses. We source glasses and other corrective vision materials at competitive prices and maintain many relationships with local eye care stores and manufacturers.

In addition, special techniques have recently been introduced to make eye exams more efficient for children with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum.

Testing children’s vision as early as possible is crucial to healthy child development. According to the National Commission on Vision and Health, one in four school-age children suffer from vision problems that could have been treated if the child had been properly examined upon entering school.
